I have an 8 yr old AQHA mare that has been one problem after another since she was born. None of the problems are all that bad, but added up over the years, they've taken their toll on me, emotionally and financially.
I've tried selling her, but she's an 8 yr old still in a snaffle, with some uestionable problems, not exactly highly marketable in this economy.
So, I've pretty much decided to donate her to the WSU vet teaching hospital. I've been in contact with them and am now waiting to hear back from there on how to proceed.
Has anyone ever done this before? Donated a horse to WSU, or anywhere else?
To give you an idea, this is a shortened version of her problems: hairline fracture/bruised growth plate bruised toes contracted tendon (surgery) club foot, unexplained high fever, edema, anemia, bladder stone (surgery to remove) can't have WNV vaccine, gets bad hives bone chip in knee bad reaction to last vaccines (flu/rhino/tet) currently dealing with unexplained hives.

Well, I think I have everything lined up. She is scheduled to be picked up on Sept. 17th (unless the van is full of patients)
UNLESS I can find another home for her with an experienced horse person. At this point, all I'm asking for is gas money if I have to deliver her.

Thanks Lori. It looks like I have a little reprieve tho. WSU is full right now, and can't take her for a month. So I'm looking to rehome her and have a few people interested in her. So HOPEFULLY she'll be going to a good home soon. If things don't work out with the people coming, she will be available if anyone is interested. Well bred, (by Sir Quincys Rebel, out of a foundation bred mare) excellent conformation. s21.photobucket.com/albums/b288/quinsation/Rebels%20Klassy%20Kid/?albumview=slideshowI'm only asking for gas money if I deliver her, so if you know of anyone interested, let me know!

Lori, Yes!! I did. ;D She went to a great place in Port Orchard where they will ride her some this fall/winter, then use her for a broodmare with their Wiescamp/SkipperW stallion. It should be a great match.
Thanks for asking.
