First of all we were surprised to find out that both the kids were "bumped up". We were told by several people if they could show at the fair at the same level as they last county 4H show. So we thought Jen would be riding walk/jog and Jason in Novice..... but instead Jen had to ride novice and lope, Jason moved up to regular and had lots of very tough competition!
Jen showed first, she won:
4th in Showmanship
3rd in Stockseat Equitation
4th in Pleasure mares
4th in Trail
and
Grand Champion in bareback equitation!!!
Jen had never ridden bareback, other than 2 or 3 times with a bareback pad (with an handle to grab). The evening before her class they had a fun trail class. She wanted to try it bareback.... to practice. Well the main part of the class was to carry a glass of water and see how much was in it at the end of the class. She ended up spilling a little on Cookie and Cookie shied right out from under her. Jen hit the dirt. I was afraid she wouldn't want to compete in the bareback class the next day, but she did and won it! We were all thrilled.
Jason won:
He made the call back for the championship class in stockseat eq.
(but since the classes were back to back, he left one and went right into the championship class, he didn't have time to regain his composure..... he was very surprised he made the cut). Cookie acted up just a tad and the judge of course saw it and then he had them lope from a standstill and Jason forgot one of his cues and Cookie just trotted.
Reserve Champion in Quarter Horse mares
Reserve Champion in Pleasure mares
Grand Champion in Trail.
All in all we had a great fair, but we sure are glad to be home. We all slept in this morning. I am very proud of the kids, they did great!
I will post some of the pictures today and a few of Jen later..... I temporarily lost my camera and my dad took pics one of the days at the fair. I have to wait to get them from him.
